Podblica, a place where cycling high above the ground is fun

Podblica is not only the birthplace of our ambassador Matej Mohorič, but it is also a place of exceptional inter-neighbourhood socializing.

Sunday, September 4, 2022, was not only a day for cycling and a cycling holiday on Slovenski trg in Kranj, but for the people of Podblica, it was also an excellent opportunity to socialize with their neighbours, chat, cheer and encourage by the side of the road through their place of all L'Etape Slovenia long-distance cyclists. However, members of the fire brigade PGD Podblica called the locals with a fire siren in time.

On that Sunday everything was marked to the yellow colour

On that Sunday everything was marked to the yellow colour of the Tour de France and in the cycling. Evidenced also by the eloquent photos, which are "only" a pale snapshot of what was really happening there. The cyclist high in the air shared the pain with the caravan of cyclists, coping with tired muscles after the kilometres cycled so far and the struggle with the slope, as well as the joy of the feeling of freedom and pride on the miracle of human physical capabilities and strong determination draw over the cyclist's face.

But what was the type of a bike of the air-rider? The state of art model? That's not a question! The key information is the colour of the bike. Yellow? Um. People of Podblica belong to the green. Green forests, green meadows, green Slovenia. I Feel Slovenia.

Jamnik was also the 2nd mountain finish line (sponsored by Gorenjska banka) for all L’Etape Slovenia racers, so of course it was crucial that the devil Didi himself, the icon of the Tour de France, encouraged the cyclists to set the pedals on fire.

Check out some of the moments captured by the photographer below. It was really a real experience!

Thanks to the locals, thanks to the firefighters, thanks to the cyclists at L’Etape Slovenia! The mountain finish was deservedly followed by a “pit” station. That the legs were not shaky on the descent to Kropa.

Good luck to everyone - see you next year, September 1st weekend 2023.
