L'Etape Slovenia Sunday Race Scores an Average of 9.1

Participants in the 2024 L'Etape Slovenia Sunday race rated the third edition of the event with an impressive average score of 9.1.

We invited all participants of the longer (Race) and shorter (Ride) routes to complete a survey, as their opinions are highly valuable to us and help shape the upcoming fourth edition in 2025. The survey was available on the L'Etape Slovenia website from Sep.26 to Oct. 1, 2024, with 262 participants responding. The event has been scored of 9.1 out of 10, which is a good rating, and we are already excited to roll up our sleeves for the next event, which will take place on the 6th-7th. 9. 2025 in Kranj.

We sincerely thank everyone for their feedback, praise, and suggestions for improvements, which we are thoroughly reviewing and will consider to the fullest extent possible.

Others hailed from Austria, Serbia, the United Kingdom, France, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.

Once You Experience L'Etape Slovenia...

For 45% of you, it was your first time participating in the Sunday race, while 30% had ridden in all three editions, with the remainder participating twice. We're thrilled that 77% of you are already planning to join L'Etape Slovenia in 2025.

Age or Youth? Thriving Middle Age!

The most represented age group was 40-49 years old (34%), followed by 30-39 (29%) and 50-59 (21%). Only around 5% of participants rode gravel bikes, while the rest chose road bikes.

Kilometers Upon Kilometers...

Although more participants signed up for the longer route, 57% of survey respondents opted for the shorter (Ride) 80 km route.

You all inspire us with the impressive distances you cover annually.

The largest group, 34%, cycled between 2,000 and 4,000 km from January 1 until race day, followed by 25% who rode between 4,001 and 6,000 km. True enthusiasts, 14%, rode over 8,000 km, while budding cyclists covering up to 1,000 km made up 8%.

The Road is Endless Inspiration...

Cycling is a fundamental sport many of us experience as children. The sense of freedom continually inspires us, and the ability to explore the world independently stays with us – 49% of participants follow no training plan.

On the other hand, 42% of participants do follow a training plan, likely fitting into the experienced road cyclists category, as 37% have been cycling for more than 9 years. This is followed by 35% who have been cycling for 4-8 years, and 24% who have cycled for up to 3 years. We also admire the beginners, as 5% started road cycling this year.

The Ideal Course

There’s no single ideal route length, as the L'Etape Slovenia peloton is incredibly diverse. Judging by your feedback, you were very satisfied with this year’s course, its profile, panoramic views, atmosphere, road closures, technical support, and safety, rating these elements an average of 4.5 out of 5. Yet, you still seek some changes. New edition, new challenges? Regardless, road closures remain crucial to you.

We consistently revisit the existing course lengths, and while a third route is a popular suggestion, it may be challenging to implement from an organizational perspective. For 36% of surveyed cyclists, the ideal length is between 76-100 km, while equal portions (26%) prefer a length of 101-130 km or 131-150 km.
