Sunday Challenge: Time Limit for Entering the Second Loop

Important notice for cyclists registered for the Race – 150 km: entry into the second loop requires an average speed of 25 km/h.

The challenging route of the L'Etape Slovenia by Tour de France 2024 is divided into two loops: the eastern and the western loop. The eastern loop, which is also the route for the Ride - the shorter 80 km challenge, starts from the starting point and goes through the municipalities of Škofja Loka, turning towards Vodice and Kamnik to the first climb and mountain finish (KOM) at Šenturška Gora. From there, it returns via the sprint segment near Brdo pri Kranju towards Predoslje, back to the start-finish area on Koroška Street in Kranj.

Entry into the Second Loop Requires an Average Speed of at Least 25 km/h

Due to the time restriction of road closures and the careful assurance of safety for all participants, a time limit has been set for crossing the start-finish area. All participants registered for the longer 150 km route must cross the start-finish area by no later than 12:15 PM.

In practice, this means achieving an average speed of at least 25 km/h.

Western Loop – Continuing Towards Besnica

Cyclists on the longer route who remain within the time limit will continue into the second – western – loop, heading towards Besnica. They will tackle the second mountain climb at Jamnik, then descend into Kropa, and continue towards Begunje na Gorenjskem and Tržič.

Final Placement Even If Outside the Time Limit

All registered cyclists for the longer challenge who do not meet the time limit for continuing into the second loop, due to safety reasons, will be redirected to the finish. Their result will be recorded in the appropriate age category among the participants of the shorter 80 km challenge.

Are you registered for 80 km but would like to continue?

Even if you are registered for the Ride - 80 km route, and you will be in extremely good shape on D-day and within the time limit, you can proceed to the second round and embark on the longer, 150 km Tour de France experience.

We advise you not to rush the decision to change the route(!).

You know - it's not during competitions that adrenaline is released, but it subsides after a few kilometers, and if you don't have the right form, you still feel the burden of an ill-considered decision. Don't let the cycling experience turn into cycling dying on meals.

Kilometer 0 in Spodnje Bitnje – Neutralized Start for All Cyclists

Until the Kilometer 0 marker, located at the 6.6 km point in Spodnje Bitnje, the ride will be under neutralized conditions. This means overtaking the official lead vehicle is not allowed. After this point, cyclists may continue at their own pace.

Ensuring the safety of all event participants is our shared responsibility. We prevent accidents together – stay safe and have a great ride!
